BEAUREGARD PARISH is FOR SMALL BUSINESS

LSBDC at McNeese State University

The Louisiana Small Business Development Center at McNeese State University offers no-cost confidential business consulting and affordable workshops to new entrepreneurs and existing business owners. LSBDC is a one-stop center for assistance in business plan development, market analysis, sources of capital, technology transfer, inventor assistance, and other business related issues.

For more than 20 years, we have served a five-parish area including Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, and Jefferson Davis.


Monthly Workshops are held at the Greater Beauregard Chamber of Commerce.

LSBDC Business Consultant

 

Dean Day is a business consultant with the Louisiana Small Business Development Center at McNeese State University. He specializes in helping small business owners with startup, sales plans, financial projections, and insurance compliance.


Mr. Day holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from LSU and is a 35-year career professional with a background in insurance, sales, and consulting. Prior to joining the LSBDC, he owned and operated his own business as an insurance business coach for 5 years and has owned 5 other businesses over the span of his career.  

As a native of Southwest Louisiana, he continues to give back to his community by serving on various boards and committees including Lake Charles Downtown Development Authority, Calcasieu Boat Club, Boy Scouts of America, Home Builders Association, and the Lake Charles Power Squadron.


Monthly Workshops are held at the Greater Beauregard Chamber of Commerce.

Incentives for Business in Beauregard Parish

ANGEL INVESTOR TAX CREDIT

Provides a tax credit of up to 25% for individual investors when they invest in early stage, wealth creating businesses.

DIGITAL INTERACTIVE MEDIA AND SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT INCENTIVE:

Provides a 25% tax credit for Louisiana resident labor expenditures and an 18% refundable tax credit on qualified production expenditures.

ENTERPRISE ZONE PROGRAM

Provides a onetime $3,500 or $1,000 tax credit per certified new job, and either a tax rebate on qualifying expenses or an investment tax credit equal to 1.5% of capital expenditures,  excluding tax-exempted items.

ENTERTAINMENT JOB CREATION PROGRAM

Provides up to 20% tax credit for each new job by approved entertainment companies.

INDUSTRIAL TAX EXEMPTION

Provides an 80% property tax abatement for up to 10 years on manufacturer's qualifying capital investments.

LED FASTSTART

Provides workforce recruitment, screening and training to eligible new and expanding Louisiana companies at no cost.

MOTION PICTURE INVESTOR TAX CREDIT

Provides a tax credit of 40% on qualified production expenditures. 

MUSICAL AND THEATRICAL PRODUCTION TAX INCENTIVE

 Provides a tax credit of up to 18% on qualified production or infrastructure development expenditures; additional 7% tax credits available for payroll to Louisiana residents. 

MUSICAL JOB CREATION PROGRAM

Provides up to 15% tax credit for each new job for Louisiana residents. 

QUALITY JOBS

Provides a 6% rebate on annual payroll expenses for up to 10 years, and either a tax rebate on capital expenditures or an investment tax credit equal to 1.5% of qualifying expenses.  

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT TAX CREDIT

 Provides up to 30% tax credit for Louisiana businesses (based on employment) that conduct research and development activities in Louisiana. 

RESTORATION TAX ABATEMENT

Provides an up to 10-year abatement of property taxes (ad valorem) on renovations and improvements of existing commercial

structures and owner-occupied residences located within economic development districts, downtown development districts, historic districts, and opportunity zones.

SOUND RECORDING INVESTOR TAX CREDIT

Provides an 18% tax credit on qualified expenditures for sound recording productions.

In 2018 Louisiana Economic Development study found that military spending in Louisiana accounts for $7.7 billion in annual economic output. Fort Polk was responsible for an estimated $1.6 billion of that total. Fort Polk accounts for more than 14,000 state jobs and $760 million in payroll. Thousands of soldiers come from all across the United States and overseas monthly to train at the Joint Readiness Training Center.
